How far is a 15k?

A 15k is a little over nine miles.

Is there a time limit for the 15k?

Yes, there is a two-hour time limit for the 15k. The course will close at 10:00 a.m.

Do you have any good training suggestions for the 15k?

If you are a Midlands resident, Strictly Running will be hosting a training program to prepare runners for the 15k. More information about this program will be available soon at Strictly Running’s website. There are a number of training programs out there. Is this race for serious runners only?

No! The great thing about a 15k is that it's more challenging than a 5k or 10k, but not as strenuous as a half-marathon. This is a great distance for a runner who is ready to take it to the next level, but not wanting to run a half-marathon.

What is your refund policy?

Once your registration has been accepted, all fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Can I have my race packet mailed to me?

Unfortunately, we cannot mail packets, however, there will be three opportunities to pick up your race packet prior to race day. Packet pick-up information will be available closer to race day. Should you be unable to pick up your race packet for some reason, you will be able to pick up your race packet on the day of the race beginning at 7:00 a.m. Packets may also be picked up by a friend or family member.

Can I transfer to another event?

You may transfer events until January 24. After January 24, no more transfers will be allowed.

Can I wear headphones? Can I run with a stroller? What about my dog?

Unofficial bicycles, skates, in-line skates, and skate boards are prohibited. All pets are prohibited for both the 15k and 5k race. Strollers are prohibited in the 15k race. This is not a closed race course. We will have some police support and volunteer course marshalls to assist with traffic, but you will be running on roads with vehicular traffic. While we cannot prevent you from running with headphones, we advise against it. Please note that when running with headphones, you should keep the music to a level where you are still fully aware of your surroundings (i.e., a car blowing its horn to warn you, people shouting to tell you a car is coming, etc.).

Where is the best place to park?

Metered parking is available on the streets surrounding Main Street. There are also a number of nearby parking garages. More information will be provided closer to race day.

How do I get my chip time?

Times will be posted immediately following the race and will be available on the race website the day of the race.

What happens if it rains?

The event will be held rain or shine.

I can't make packet pick-up. Can someone else pick up my packet for me?

Yes, you may have a friend or family member pick up your packet for you.

Will there be a bag check at the race?

No, we will not have a bag check. If you pick up your race packet on race morning, you are responsible for its safe keeping.

Where is the start and finish line located?

The start and finish are at the same location – the First Citizens Plaza at the corner of Main Street and Lady Street in downtown Columbia. The address for First Citizens Bank is 1230 Main Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
